There have been many mixed reviews about them, but you have to realize you're buying a twin turbo engine for $1200 shipped, and it came packed in a nasty crate on a boat across the Pacific. Most of the opinions I've read come from people who are too ignorant or stubborn to replace the important parts before installation. If we were talking about the equivalent engine for Honda you'd be looking at over $4k shipped, and it's half the size and weight. Replacing all the tidbits adds up, but you're building it to the condition to run with minimal maintenance for at least 60k miles. The most important tip is what I mentioned originally, strip the motor to the long block and replace everything. That way, you know it's done right, and if there's an issue you'll likely have an idea where it's coming from because you put it together. The bonus is, you can paint/polish/clean and add any engine bay scheme you want with immense ease.
